Statement of Solidarity - Jacksonville, FL: The Landing Mass Shooting

We at QLatinx are deeply saddened and heartbroken over the recent tragedy that occurred over the weekend in Jacksonville, FL. We fully stand in solidarity with the community affected by the Jacksonville Landing Mass Shooting. We send our love and support to the community of Jacksonville who are affected by this senseless violence.

The Jacksonville Landing tragedy marks the third reported large scale shooting in Florida since the Pulse Orlando tragedy in 2016, and comes only six months after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in February 2018. Our lives should never come in jeopardy whether we are embracing community on the dance floor, focusing on our studies in the safety of classrooms, or enjoying competitive and communal games among friends and loved ones.

This violent trend must end. We will share more details on Jacksonville based community gatherings as they become available. Until that time, we extend a loving embrace to our friends and partners in Jacksonville, and uplift you in this unfortunate and terrible hour.
