Grassroots Organizing: Building Blocks of a Social Movement

Photo of QLatinx members that attended the grassroots organizing training session, facilitated by Isabel Sousa of the Florida Immigrant Coalition.

Last night, members of QLatinx gathered together to discuss effective strategies of movement building at a grassroots level. Our discussion focused primarily on the basics of grassroots organizing methodologies and tools including: one-on-ones, organizing circles, organizational culture and roles, and the basics of campaign planning.

This truly dynamic and engaging workshop was facilitated by the Florida Immigrant Coalition Membership Director Isabel Sousa-Rodriguez, a leader in the immigrant rights movement and a highly phenomenal speaker. We are thankful for the time that she held for us and the guidance she offered as we constructed a frame for our work and took steps toward shaping the movement for social equity and liberation.
