#NLAAD
Annually on October 15th, National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) mobilizes community based organizations, leaders of the Latino community, health departments, and elected officials to spread awareness within the Latino community about HIV/AIDS, and bring about improvements in HIV related health practices by building capacity, developing and disseminated resources, utilizing media channels, and casting the spotlight on Latino faces behind the epidemic.
This year QLatinx joined and hosted a series of local events that highlighted the impacts of HIV/AIDS on our Central Florida Latinx community.
We joined Latinx leaders from across Central Florida for an inaugural Latinx HIV/AIDS Roundtable and brainstorming session with the Orange County Health Department to address the growing HIV epidemic in Central Florida.
Later in the evening QLatinx hosted a special interview with local Latinx HIV advocates to talk about the impacts of HIV/AIDS in the local community, as part of our #HablamosAlto campaign. Panelists featured Rose Hornedo of Miracle of Love, Inc., Carlos Diaz of Aspire Health Partners/PrePare, Julia Desangles of Planned Parenthood/Raiz, and Mark Anthony Delgado of QLatinx.
